Last week, I had the pleasure and honour of taking photographs at the prestigious Mercedes-Benz Fashion Festival held at Old Government House in Brisbane across the 27th to the 31st of August.
The Mercedes-Benz Fashion Festival Brisbane is Queensland’s premier annual fashion event, coinciding with the arrival of new-season Spring/Summer collections in stores.
What a week it was – since the event was last held in 2015, the team had gone to work reviewing all aspects of the Fashion Festival to ensure the very best of Queensland and Australian fashion and the brightest up and coming design talent were showcased, and suffice to say, they delivered!
More than 60 designers were featured, with 120 models showing their wares as 150 volunteers and 200 employees made it all happen for the 2,500 fashion lovers who attended across the five days.
The standouts were many, with some of the country’s most talented designers mixing with local brands and up and coming stars – such as Bold, which had the brains of high-school students driving the popular designs – on the amazing Old Government House runway.
I was certainly kept busy photographing all four runway shows, and I can’t thank Lindsay Bennett (Festival Director) enough for this prestigious invitation. Thanks also must go to Nicole Carrington-Sima, the festival’s media manager, for her support.
Across the week, I really enjoyed working with Taryn Watt of Watt to Wear, who is also the editor for The Fashion Society – she certainly kept me busy each night editing up photos for her daily coverage of the proceedings and I loved every minute of it.
It was great to see everyone taking time out at the Fashion Bar during the event as well – it certainly looked like fun with some great beverages to be had. For me, however, duty called – maybe next time!
